All kinds of Sports news

This will be one LOOOOOONG Post:

Stariting with NFL : Friday-Saturday and Sunday news :

Larry Johnson’s future in Kansas City could be determined by the outcome of his grievance hearing with the Chiefs on Wednesday…One source familiar with the situation said that should the Chiefs win the grievance, they would probably release Johnson.Woah from a the future of the organisation to the …

The New Orleans Saints have signed former Falcons DT Rod Coleman, Nothing special servicable starter better as a backup IMO.

The Minnesota Vikings have decided to match the $1.4 million offer sheet fullback Naufahu Tahi received from the Cincinnati Bengals, keeping Tahi in Minnesota.

Stock is falling…The following draft prospects stock has taken a hit since the end of the College Football season…QB Nate Davis (Ball State), QB Chase Daniel (Missouri), HB LeSean McCoy (Pittsburgh), HB P.J. Hill (Wisconsin), WR Hakeem Nicks (North Carolina), and SS William Moore (Missouri).

Pro Football Talk is reporting  rumors are circulating that two potential first-round draft prospects tested positive for abuse and/or banned substances at last month’s Scouting Combine. :O wow they have just officially ruined their careers.

New uniforms for 49’ers…The San Francisco 49’ers New uniforms will be unveiled at the 49ers draft party on April 25 at the Santa Clara Convention Center…The new threads — believed to be similar to the “throwbacks” the team has worn in recent seasons, will be displayed before the draft begins.

Team Visits…Oklahoma WR Juaquin Iglesias has a visit scheduled with the Minnesota Vikings on April 8. Ohio State HB Chris “Beanie” Wells has visits scheduled with the Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, and San Diego Chargers…Texas WR Quan Cosby has a visit scheduled with the Denver Broncos on April 1…Iowa CB Bradley Fletcher has visits scheduled with the Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets, and Dallas Cowboys…The New England Patriots have visits scheduled with safeties Patrick Chung (Oregon), William Moore (Missouri) and Louis Delmas (Western Michigan)… Maryland OLB Moise Fokou has a visit scheduled with the Washington Redskins.Western Michigan CB E.J. Biggers has visits scheduled with the Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and San Diego Chargers.

Lance Zierlein of the Houston Chronicle reports the Cincinnati Bengals are leaning towards taking a tackle with their first round pick, and that their guy could be Alabama tackle Andre Smith who could play RT or guard for the Bengals.

Lance Zierlein of the Houston Chronicle reports there are beginning to be whispers that Wake Forest LB Aaron Curry won’t go as high as most draft pundits have him…The concern in some quarters is that Curry isn’t a strong pass rusher as a 3-4 OLB and that the Chiefs and Browns could look in a different direction with the 3rd and 5th picks respectively.

The Kansas City Chiefs hope Detroit makes Georgia QB Matt Stafford its No. 1 pick…and leave them with the pick of defensive players when their turn rolls around at No. 3 of the April 25-26 draft.

Now NCAA MARCH MADNESS!!!!!!

NHL:

For all you leaf fans this here is a little post on Pogee:

“He is still 22 years of age and is playing only his third season of professional hockey. But, Justin Pogge is probably a lot farther down the line with the Maple Leafs. If Brian Burke and Ron Wilson didn’t come to town with preconceived notions about the goalie the club chose 90th overall in the 2004 NHL draft, it didn’t take long for either man to voice concern. Bluntly and accurately, Burke made it known on several occasions that Pogge has not earned a look-see in the NHL with his play in the minors this season. Instead, Pogge’s appearances with the Maple Leafs have come out of necessity to gauge whether the organization’s top goaltending prospect has made any progress toward becoming heir apparent to Vesa Toskala. The results are not overwhelming.

Pogge received a poignant, uncensored reminder of where he likely stands with the Leafs’ high command midway through the second period of Saturday night’s disaster against Boston at the Air Canada Centre. Low-scoring winger Shawn Thornton embarrassed him with a weak goal to provide the Bruins a 5-4 advantage. Wilson — as he is wont to do — called a 30-second time-out at a critical juncture of the game, purportedly to settle down his players. It’s a tactic he has used with success on several occasions this season. The difference here was that Wilson’s breather lasted no more than 10 seconds — the interval required for him to lambaste Pogge in front of his teammates and a nation-wide audience on Hockey Night in Canada. In fact, it was probably the shortest time-out ever taken by a coach in the NHL. Perhaps, also, the least-effective.

Pogge’s dreadful night ended just 1:14 later, when David Krejci tucked a backhand shot between his legs for a 6-4 Bruins lead. It finished off a three-goal eruption in a 3:43 span. Wilson immediately turned to his left and called for Curtis Joseph, who made his way onto the ice for the third time this week. Pogge sulked to the bench and sat with his mask on for a full five minutes before showing his face. Whether or not he planned it that way isn’t known, but you have to wonder if he’ll get another chance to ply his trade in a Leafs’ uniform.

Neither Burke nor Wilson have been pleased with Pogge’s development and work habits in the AHL. Prior to the season [and Burke’s arrival at the end of November], Cliff Fletcher hired former NHL netminder Corey Hirsch primarily to mentor Pogge with the Toronto Marlies. The Leafs were concerned that Pogge wasn’t attaining new heights in the minors, and had stagnated in his second pro season a year ago. Whether or not it hindered his advancement, Pogge was glued to the bench in favour of veteran Scott Clemmensen through the bulk of the AHL playoffs last spring; Marlies’ coach Greg Gilbert clearly believing he stood a better chance to win without the young prospect. Fairly or otherwise, Hirsch had a negligible affect on Pogge this season, and Burke knows he has some important decisions to make in the next year or so about the Leafs’ goaltending plans moving forward.

As it stands, Toskala will probably be given every chance to prove his dismal season this year was the result of groin and hip problems; the Finnish-born netminder recently underwent hip surgery in Vail, Colorado. Though he can no longer be entrusted with the starter’s role, it appears veteran Martin Gerber is capable enough to handle the No. 2 position behind Toskala next season. But, Toskala will be in the final year of his contract with the Leafs, and there is no conceivable way Burke will extend him until the goalie confirms whether or not physical damage indeed ruined his ‘08-09 campaign. In a perfect world, the franchise’s top young prospect would be waiting in the wings to step in for Toskala, but Pogge has given no indication that he’ll be of big-league caliber anytime soon.”

Now my opinion Pogee will meet his expectations give him time i understand plp in TO are urging this team to go to Pogee remember 4 years left on Burkes 5 year plan tons of time to either get a new goalie or Develope Justin Pogee.

Now quick hits: NFL

After partying all night on Saturday at MYNT Nightclub with other NFL players and some local hoochies, T.O. leaves the club at 3:45 a.m…Noticeably impaired by his inability to walk without wavering, Terrell stops to hit on some girls then hops on his yellow Spyder CanAm…Terrell Owens drives only 4 blocks before the cops start chasing him and pull him over… According to source that witnessed the evening’s events, though the cops gave him a field sobriety test there is no way that T.O. should have passed the test…It seems like the Miami Beach PoliceDepartment traded a DUI for his autograph and let him go!..The witness assures us that they did not give T.O. a breathalyzer test when he clearly needed one.

Six schools ( Louisville, Rice, Central Florida, East Carolina, Central Arkansas, UMass ) will be holding their pro day workouts today. The most important check out the results for East Carolina make or break day for them.

Count the Chicago Bears among the 10 teams that have contacted the Denver Broncos about quarterback Jay Cutler… Yahoo Sports reported Wednesday that the Bears have reached out to the Broncos about Cutler, who has requested a trade. The extent of that discussion is unknown, but it’s evident that general manager Jerry Angelo, is doing his due diligence.

The Bills re-signed OLB Keith Ellison to a one-year, $1.01 million dollar contract.

New NFL system for draft:

The NFL will adopt a new bylaw in 2010 that affects the draft order of playoff teams…Playoff teams will be seeded according to when they are knocked out in the postseason…Currently, the only two playoffs teams that are affected by their post-season finish are the two Super Bowl participants with the loser picking 31st and the winner having the last pick in the first round, 32nd. Thats it for now, come back later for another blog with the lastest news.

Chris,

Sports OLNY NFL

Number 2 blog!!!!!!!!
This one will consist of only football rumours and transactions today:

Also Draft day coming up a bit of news on some prospects:

Wednesday will be a huge day for Texas DE Brian Orakpo, because all of the NFL teams are expected to send at least one representative to the Texas Pro Day to view his workout. Orakpo pulled a hamstring at the Indianapolis Combine and was unable to perform in the linebacker drills. Tomorrow will be his first chance to prove that he’s athletic enough to drop into coverage as a linebacker, which will really enhance his stock. NFL teams that use the 3-4 scheme will especially be interested in his workout tomorrow.

Clemson Pro Day…Twenty five NFL scouts were in attendance at the workout…Halfback James Davis ran a blazing 4.39 forty yard dash, and looked good catching the ball out of the backfield in the field drills…

Notes – Defensive tackle Dorell Scott has already set up or performed workouts with a number of NFL teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys.

Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain reports the open quarterback competition between Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn officially has begun, Browns coach Eric Mangini said at NFL owners meetings this morning. While the prospect of trading one still exists, Mangini said he met with both quarterbacks prior to coming here and explained they will have an open competition for the starting job in 2009.

Matt Mosley of ESPN reporting from the owners meeting says Bills’ head coach Dick Jauron is talking about T.O.’s arrival in Buffalo…Jauron said he purposely didn’t talk to anyone about T.O.’s past when discussions came up about signing the player…Jauron did acknowledge that Cowboys director of player development Calvin Hill called him on T.O.’s behalf…”I don’t see it as a great risk,” Jauron said. “I’d rather play with him than against him…Playing against him is not any fun…There are not many corners with that size and speed and athletic ability to cover him.”

A NEW NFL CAPPP!!!

Goodell: New cap likely in a year…NFL owners are formulating a strategy to begin negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement with the players’ union, but commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday he expects a new deal will be in place before next March, when the salary cap is set to expire. This should be rather interesting.!!!!!!

The Kansas City Chiefs have a visit scheduled with Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry.

Compensatory Picks…The NFL announced today at the Owners meeting that a total of 32 compensatory picks in the 2009 Draft were awarded to 16 teams…The Bengals and Titans received the most compensatory picks with four apiece…This is how the 32 compensatory picks are broken down by team: Cincinnati 4, Tennessee 4, Chicago 3, New England 3, Seattle 3, Dallas 2, Jacksonville 2, San Diego 2, San Francisco 2, Arizona 1, Detroit 1, Indianapolis 1, Kansas City 1, New York Giants 1, Pittsburgh 1, Washington 1.

Sports Today

Huge Day for College basketball !!

Quite a few games to be played!

Already 1 game has finished which is the Villanova vs. UCLA game which the third ranked Villanova were no match for UCLA. Even though it was an off day for UCLA, Villanova showed why they are ranked ahead of them in the 89-69 win. UCLA did end up winning in some categories in the game like for 3 pointers they were 9-24 and Villanova 8-25.Both teams shot a decent percentage with the Bruins(UCLA) at 42% and the Wildcats(Villanova) at 47%. It was a very entetaining game!

Game stars: Villanova: Dante Cunningham was simply a beast ! 18 pts, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 2 steals great perfomance from him!

for UCLA: Not a great performance for any of the Bruins players but the biggest surprise to me was Darren Collison of the bench for 15 points.

The other games tonight are : Maryland vs. Memphis, Texas A&M vs. UCON, LSU vs. North Carolina, Duke vs. Texas, Michigan vs Oklahoma, W.Kentucky vs. Gonzaga and Purdue vs. Washington.

My Predictions: Memphis, UCON, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma, Gonzaga and i have a feeling Purdue will win. What do you guys think of these predictions ??

Also Tonight Many hockey games :

The one to watch will be Montreal vs. Toronto its gunna be a nasty game !!

The other games :

  • Stars vs. Sharks  Prediction  4Sharks 2 Stars
  • Capitals vs. Hurricanes  Prediction 5 Caps 4 Canes
  • T.O vs. Mtl Prediction 7 Mtl 5 T.O
  • Buffalo vs. NYR Prediction 3 Buf 2 NYR

  • CBJ vs. FLO Prediction 5- FLO 3 CBJ
  • TBL vs. ATL Prediction 3-Tampa 0 Atl
  • VAN vs. PHO Prediction 4- VAN 3 PHO

Fotball moves so far today :

The Indianapolis Colts signed Panthers free agent LB Adam Seward to a one-year contract.

The San Diego Chargers put WR Kassim Osgood on the trading block more than two weeks ago, they to get a late-round pick for the special teams standout and wide receiver.

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed FB Naufahu Tahi of the Vikings to an offer sheet of one year and $1.4 million with $500,000 guaranteed. Minnesota has seven days to match the offer.

Interesting Peppers INFO : Pro Football Weekly is saying despite a recent report suggested the Panthers were discussing a trade of DE Julius Peppers to the Patriots for the 34th(2nd) overall pick in the draft, sources in Carolina say the team would need a trade package with much more value than that to even consider dealing Peppers…the Panthers are committed to keeping Peppers, even while he sucks up cap space with a tender offer worth $16.683 million.16 million for one player is alot but Peppers is worth every penny but can he produce while hes not happy with his situation in this team playing a 4-3 and not a 3-4 in which he likes more?

The Minnesota Vikings announced that they have extended the contract of cornerback Cedric Griffin.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded fourth-year defensive tackle Tony McDaniel to the Miami Dolphins for an undisclosed draft choice, my Guess would be a 6th at best most likely a 7th.

Former Seattle Seahawks fullback Leonard Weaver has accepted a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles…The one-year deal that will pay him $1.75 million but also has incentives that could take the deal to $2.5 million.

Thats it for now, lots more to come in the sporting world !!! Hope you enjoyed the read please comment!

First Sports Blog

This the first sports blog is about the NHL Trade Deadline and the NFL free agency :

So first the NHL trade deadline so far biggest bust (worst Trade)

The New York Islanders havent been winning this year but have won today ! The worst trade in my opinion was when they traded there #1 winger in Bill Guerin to the Pitsburgh Penguins for a conditional pick. At first i thought it would be and 1st or 2nd round pick when i found out it was a 3rd or 4th or even a 5th i was extremelly confused. The Islanders might have gotten away with a 1st for Campoli and Comrie (in the trade with the sens) but they lost out on this one badly!

and the Winner of Trade Deadline goes to :

Toron…. err Calgary : Calgary gets the call for this one bringing in the red hot Olli Jokien and Jordan Leopold without overpaying was a great move for them they have solidified there scoring and now have 2 very talented offensive lines watch out because when playoff time comes Calgary wont be no easy task. Now why was i going to say the Dreadfull Maple Leafs? Well they dumped two players who in my opinion were no longer usefull to them. Trading Antropov and Moore for 2 2nds and a 4th not bad Burke along with getting another 4th and a good prospect from the Bolts good day for the Leafs.

Now NFL free agency:

The most overated day in most sporting events is NFL free agency but this year weve had more drama than usual. Lots of trade talks big free agents and also WR Terell Owens signs with the Bills??

Thats just crazy TO with Bufallo no one would have thought this but wow!! Good move by the Bills GET YOURE POPCORN READY FOLKS THIS IS MAKING OUT TO BE ONE VERY INTERESTING RIDE!!!!!!!

Now  worst move: To me not to many bad moves but one that could really backfire is the massive deal the Redskins gave to Albert Haynesworth. Now he is a huge presence on any defensive line but if he underperforms or gets injured the money tied into him really hurts the Redskins, but this could also turn out really well for them.

Well thats it for my first sports blog if you guys have any comments or any suggestions about these please comment!!
